Election Results
In 2007, 23 of our Washington state candidates won their elections. One of Progressive Majority's longstanding goals in Washington has come to fruition after 3 years of work. Developer interests tried to hold onto Mike Cooper's seat by seeding his opponent with $100,000 in the final weeks of the campaign, but Mike won anyway. Along with Brian Sullivan and 2005 Progressive Majority candidate Dave Somers, Mike is in a great spot to start making progressive waves.
A number of candidates of color set major precedents with their victories. Bob Kelly is the first Native American to hold county office in Washington state, and John Lovick is the first ever African-American Sheriff in the history of Washington!
The 2007 results reaffirm the success of our Washington state program, and demonstrate the burgeoning strength of the progressive movement.
